Fitting Everything for the DIY Picnic Table in the Car I did have to get some wood cut in the store. I ordered several 12 ft pieces of composite decking and I knew that wouldn't fit in my car. So I had an employee cut them in half for me. Having the store cut your wood is convenient, but it's not always worth it.

Step 3: Top. Center and align the top center board and screw it down to the top support with two evenly-spaced screws at each end. Add the rest of the boards, spaced with nails, or tight against each other. (I made the first 10 or so with spaces, but as they age, I think tight against each other is better.)

I used some leftover boards from our composite deck for the surface part of this picnic table. I used a lot of Kreg joints to screw up into the boards from underneath, so I didn't have many exposed screw heads. I did have to redesign this plan slightly for me because of my composite board width. Ended up
